AAI Pays Final Dividend Of Rs.147 Crore

A cheque for final dividend of Rs. 147 crore has been presented here today to the Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Ajit Singh by Chairman, Airports Authority of India (AAI), Shri V.P. Agrawal in the presence of Secretary, Civil Aviation, Shri K.N. Shrivastava. 

Airports Authority of India (AAI) is an organisation of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and it has been making profits since its inception. 

For the financial year 2012-13, AAI earned revenue of Rs. 6917 crore (previous year Rs. 5879 crore), profit before tax of Rs. 1337 crore (previous year Rs. 1364 crore) and has declared dividend of Rs 147 crore (previous year dividend Rs. 171.90 crore) to the Government of India. 

Despite increase in Gross Revenue during 2012-13 by Rs. 1038 crore, profit before tax has reduced to Rs. 1337 crore (previous year Rs. 1364 crore) primarily due to increase in operating expenses, security operating expenses viz-a-viz PSF (security) amount received. 

Substantial investment in creation of infrastructure has taken place during the previous years. 

However, the airport tariff have not been revised since 2003 barring Kolkata and Chennai Airport which was revised w.e.f. March 2013. 

The closure of M/s Kingfisher Airlines has also impacted the revenue of AAI. 

In the process of modernising its airport terminals, passenger’s facilities and Air Traffic and Navigational Aids, AAI spent a sum of Rs. 1800 crore in the year 2012-13 ( previous year 2095 crore). 

Other senior officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and AAI were also present on the occasion.
